Donald Palmer

Biography

Donald is one of the College’s inaugural Visiting Fellows.

He is an Associate Professor of Immunology at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. His main research interest is focused on understanding the effect of age on the immune system. Donald teaches on several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. He is on the Editorial Board of various scientific journals and is currently Education & Careers Secretary of the British Society for Immunology.

Donald is passionate about increasing scientific awareness amongst the general public and fellow scientist, and also to encourage young people to consider a career in science by regularly contributing to public engagement activities; speaking at schools, colleges, community events and scientific festivals. He has often provided comments in the area of immunology to various media outlets. Donald is a mentor and role model for various organisations and community groups.
