Reuben College opens 2025/26 academic funds for public engagement and the humanities

Reuben students can now apply for the Public Engagement with Research (PER) Innovation Fund and the Values & Society Fund.

Now in its fifth year, the PER Innovation Fund supports students to develop and run their own public engagement projects, building practical skills and a funding track record. Projects are developed with the support of College Fellows and the scheme actively encourages collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches. Project examples from the 2024/25 academic year included:

  • A one-day workshop introducing Arabic-speaking students in the UK to bioinformatics
  • Interdisciplinary art workshops for young people in the UK and Poland, using creative practice to explore consent across different cultural and legal contexts
  • The development of a card game designed to teach families and students about evolution, incorporating environmental changes and randomness to increase engagement

Applications to the PER Innovation Fund close on 19 January 2026. A drop-in session for prospective applicants will be held in the GCR on 12 January 2026, 12:30-13:30. You can find out more about applications on the PERCH page.

Alongside this, applications are open for the Values & Society (V&S) Fund, a new scheme supporting the College’s expanded Values & Society theme.

The V&S Fund will provide £1,000 to support a single academic event that engages with fundamental questions about values and the kind of society we wish to live in. The College particularly welcomes applications for interdisciplinary events, including collaborations across different fields within the humanities.

The application deadline for the Values & Society Fund is 6 February 2026.

A Reuben Explores workshop in Week 1 of Hilary Term will give potential applicants the opportunity to ask questions about the scheme and explore ideas for their application. For details on the scheme, see the Values & Society Fund page.
