Biography

I am an immunologist and computational biologist. I recently joined Professor Stephen Sansom and Professor Dame Fiona Powrie's groups at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology as a post-doctoral research associate. My research focuses on identifying pathotypes of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This project hopes to find better ways to help medical practitioners categorise and select the best treatments for patients with IBD. To achieve this I am working with a large dataset from patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including information on their DNA, RNA, the bacteria present in their gut and their response to various drug treatments.

I completed my PhD in Professor Rahul Roychoudhuri’s group at the University of Cambridge, funded by the BBSRC. My PhD research investigated cancer immunoediting- the process by which cancers evolve to avoid being killed by the immune system. In addition to this I developed a web-tool for gene set based analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas, enabling easy analysis of this database.

I am an Early Career Research Fellow at Reuben College, where I sit on the committee for equality, diversity, and inclusion. I am committed to helping postgraduate students learn and flourish in a positive and inclusive environment and have an excellent experience of college life.
