Puravi Panda is a DPhil student in Pharmacology at Reuben College, Oxford.
She is supervised by Professor Frances Platt in the Department of Pharmacology and her research explores lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs), a rare group of inherited metabolic disorders. While lysosomal dysfunction and inflammation are common in LSDs, these diseases exhibit disease-specific differences in both lysosomal dysfunction and inflammatory profiles. Puravi’s project aims to investigate these differences to identify potential therapeutic targets for LSDs.
Outside of research, Puravi has a passion for Odissi, a classical Indian dance form she has practiced since the age of five. She also enjoys cooking, baking, painting and embroidery, and recently started a blog documenting her experience at Oxford (@oxfordingmyway on Instagram).
