Gareth is studying for a part-time MSt in Practical Ethics. Gareth is a Chief and Fellow at the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl); he is the Head of Profession for Social Research for the Ministry of Defence (MOD), and is leading Dstl’s approach to integrating ethics across the organisation.
Gareth has published on a wide range of topics, such as the role of professional expertise in government, sensemaking in intelligence analysis, how macrocognitive approaches to decision making can be fused with non-deterministic futures methods, and the use of attitudinal surveys in war zones.
Gareth has a PhD in Psychology, undertook Post-Doc research in the United States, taught science in schools, worked as a Sport Psychologist with a GB National Squad, and has been embedded as an Analyst / Scientific Advisor to the British Headquarters in Afghanistan, the Army’s Land Warfare Centre, and MOD Head Office (in three positions - military capability, defence security policy, and defence HR policy).
