Erin Ferguson (she/her)

Biography

Erin is the interim Welfare Dean in College, covering while Kirren Mahmood is on parental leave.

Erin serves as the first point of contact for any welfare or wellbeing related issues that students might experience, and offers confidential consultations and tailored support for their individual needs. Erin supports our students with accessing the most relevant and helpful information, resources and support for any difficulties they come across. She also works with our Welfare Reps, Peer Supporters and Sub Deans to advocate and foster a culture that promotes the wellbeing of our community.

Erin studied Psychology at the University of St Andrews and then completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oxford. She has worked for over 10 years in both the NHS and private practice as a Clinical Psychologist. More recently, she moved into welfare support in higher education with a fixed term Head of Wellbeing role at LMH.

Growing up in Northern Ireland, Erin has always been fascinated by how our environments, cultures and beliefs shape us. Becoming a Clinical Psychologist enabled her to understand the biopsychosocial nature of human distress and develop the therapeutic skills to help alleviate this. She is particularly interested in Compassion Focused therapy and brings many of these concepts into her work and life.
