I'm Chris and I’m a DPhil student in Plant Biology. I am from Muenster in Germany where I did my undergraduate and my master’s degree in Biosciences.
I started my DPhil in autumn 2023 and I am a member of the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. Being fascinated by the ability of plants to adapt their growth according to the varying environmental conditions, I study the underlying mechanisms that govern plant growth. In particular, I investigate the pathways that integrate the information about energy availability in the plants into a growth decision in the plant’s stem cell niche at the tip of the shoot. In the long term, a better understanding of these complex signalling mechanisms will contribute to the improvement of crop plants and thereby help to tackle the world’s upcoming climate challenges.
I love fluorescence microscopy and in my free time I enjoy rowing, running, reading, and exploring Oxford's pubs.
