As Senior Tutor for the college, Caroline works with the President and Official Fellows to develop the academic strategy, manage the programme of graduate activities (including provision of welfare and pastoral support), and provide general oversight of governance matters. She also holds responsibility for student admissions, and oversees the administration of graduate scholarships, bursaries and other financial support for students.
Caroline is committed to ensuring that the college enriches and sustains graduate life at Oxford by driving strategies that meet the academic and social needs of students, and provide a supportive and stimulating environment for all college members. She brings a wealth of experience, both from within the College environment, and from her service on a plethora of University and Divisional bodies. She is active in promoting better access across the University, both as a Disability Lead and as part of the University’s major initiatives group, which formulated the Oxford Foundation year.
Caroline’s academic background is in Political Philosophy, gaining an AHRC funded DPhil from Oxford in 2000, and having combined this study with teaching across the colleges. After a short spell in IT consultancy she returned to Oxford as Fellow and Tutor for Admissions at Wadham College in 2002, taking on the additional role of Senior Tutor in 2007, and joining Reuben as Senior Tutor and one of its first Fellows in 2019.
