Alex is a DPhil student in Cancer Science, fully funded by Cancer Research UK. She is supervised by Prof. David Church and Prof. Nicky Whiffin. Her research focuses on vaccine development for Lynch Syndrome and colorectal cancer, with a particular emphasis on the non-coding genome. In addition, Alex is interested in how alternative splicing influences tumour initiation and progression and which cancer-specific splicing events serve as promising targets for vaccine development.
Before joining Oxford, Alex studied medicine and worked as a clinical geneticist at Charité University in Berlin and completed my MD thesis at Yale University, where they focused on computational approaches to predict tumour aggressiveness and clinical outcomes.
Alex is also a peer supporter at Reuben College.
