A message from the Vice-President

This month, Reuben College began a search for a new President to succeed Professor Lord (Lionel) Tarassenko, whose inaugural term is set to end at the end of summer 2027. Details of the vacancy can be found here (closing date 30 March 2026).

Reuben College has been extraordinarily fortunate to benefit from Lionel’s leadership since its foundation in 2019. From the outset, Lionel has played a defining role in the creation of Reuben’s identity and aims, championing its founding within the University and establishing the multidisciplinary-by-design ethos that continues to underpin the College today.

Under his leadership, the College has built a strong relationship with the Reuben Foundation, moved into wonderfully renovated buildings, and grown its student body to over 500 students. We are deeply grateful for Lionel’s commitment and stewardship during this foundational period in Reuben’s history. As we approach the close of this inaugural chapter next year, the College will mark the occasion with a series of events celebrating Reuben’s beginnings and recognising Lionel’s remarkable contributions as its first President.
