Omar Awad

Biography

Omar is an MSc Genomic Medicine student at the University of Oxford and holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Imperial College London. His interests lie in the development and commercialisation of gene therapies, as well as uncovering the genetic basis by which various diseases form.

Prior to commencing his studies, Omar undertook a summer placement at the Institute of Cancer Research under the supervision of Dr Trevor Graham, where he assessed the use of preclinical drug combinations to target colorectal cancer. He previously interned at a Series A biotech start-up developing a novel anti-cancer cell therapy, where he advised senior leaders on viable approaches to expand their therapeutic pipeline for their 5-year strategic plan.
