Reuben College Winter Closure 2024: What’s open when?

Many of the College staff and contractors will be taken well-deserved breaks in December, with thus some reduction in college services compared to ‘termtime provision’.  A number of Bank Holidays also fall during this period (when many shops and city services will be closed) and University departments (including libraries) will be shut: for more information on University services and support, see: Vacation welfare support | University of Oxford

 

Below is a handy guide as to what (and who) is available at Reuben over the Christmas period:

College Building

The college will be closed between these periods:   
18:00, 23 December - 9:00, 27 December  
17:00, 31 December - 9:00, 2 January 2025  

     

College opens between 9:00-17:00 only From 27 - 31 December

 

Staff

Between Sat 21 December – Sunday 5th December inclusive, most college staff, including the catering team, will be taking a break. There will be no meals, and limited staffing in academic and domestic offices.

Accommodation Team For urgent call-outs only: details will be sent separately to residents in college accommodation
Welfare Team The Student Assistance Programme (0800 028 3766) remains available 24/7, including bank holidays. College sub-deans will have emergency College contact numbers – make contact via the lodge

If you are spending any time in Oxford over the holiday period and wondering what events and activities are going on please do check out the Oxford Events Guide from Daily Info. To echo advice from the Senior Tutor and Academic Office, please do try to take a proper break from your studies to recharge your batteries, it will be far more productive for you in the longer term.  

If you run into any difficulties over the vacation, whatever your struggles please note you can call the Student Assistance Programme 24/7 Confidential Helpline- 0800 028 3766 any time of day over the vacation and you will get through to a BACP accredited counsellor who will be able to help you.

For any medical support, please call your GP Practice for an appointment. If you are registered with the College GP and are away from Oxford and you need medical support you can visit your ‘home’ GP as a temporary patient. If you have queries about repeat prescriptions; specialist referrals or surgery opening times then please contact your GP Practice.

University Welfare Services

The Student Welfare and Support Service will close from Monday 23 December to Wednesday 1 January.

However, there are other options to access welfare support
