Two Reuben Fellows made Full Professors

Many congratulations to Professor of Translational Neuroscience Esther Becker, and Professor of Biomedical Informatics Aiden Doherty, who received their full professorships in this summers Recognition of Distinction awards. Academics who receive this title have to prove evidence of outstanding research and teaching, as well as other examples of good citizenship to the University community.

Professor Becker's work in neurobiology provides fundamental insights into the genetic, molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern the development and different diseases of the cerebellum. She is also Reuben College's Vice-President, and a key figure in our senior management team.

Esther says, 'I am super excited about this recognition and would like to thank my mentors for their support but also the amazing team of students and staff who have been working with me over the years!'

Professor Doherty develops reproducible methods to analyse wearable sensor data in very large health studies to better understand the causes and consequences of disease. His team also discovered the first genetic evidence that physical activity might causally lower blood pressure.

Aiden says, 'I am delighted to receive this recognition and look forward to further exciting research at the intersection of computing and medicine in collaboration with colleagues at Reuben, NDPH, and Oxford more widely.'
