Four part-time Reuben students from the University’s inaugural MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership programme recently visited the College and attended Formal Hall. Segun Dawodu, Jae Kullar, Shawn Mathis, and Owen O’Sullivan were hosted at the dinner by Reuben College President, Prof. Lionel Tarassenko.
The MSc is a highly practical programme, designed for experienced healthcare managers and leaders with over five years' relevant professional experience. The multi-disciplinary Master’s degree is led by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in partnership with Saïd Business School, creating an innovative and integrated programme that harnesses the University’s world-leading expertise in healthcare, business and policy.
Segun was born in Nigeria and holds degrees from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (MB;BS), University of London (LL.B), King’s College, London (LL.M), Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (MBA) and Northwestern University, Evanston (MSc in Medical Informatics). He is a registered physician with the GMC(UK) and in the US where he currently works as an Interventional Pain Medicine and Sports Medicine physician.
Jae was born in the UK, raised in Canada and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, with her husband and two daughters. She has spent over 25 years in the health field, initially training as a dietitian, leading hospital nutrition departments before transitioning into the corporate world. Over the last decade, she has worked across industries leading employee health and wellbeing benefit programs. Jae hopes that her participation in the MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership at Oxford will enable her to continue developing her global health skills.
Shawn Mathis is a global health executive, professor, board director, and author. At Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, he trained in advanced management & leadership and organizational leadership. Mathis is a contributing author of the chapter entitled "Mastering the Power of People Development" in the recently published Routledge Press book entitled "Mastering the Power of You.” The book was released on November 21, 2022.
Owen has worked in a range of NHS Trusts where his roles have included running Mass Vaccination centres in the East of England, merging three acute district hospitals and delivering a 5-year strategy for a tertiary hospital. Prior to the NHS, he also had several roles in different sectors including in the Olympics, security and island government and worked in a number of different countries including New Zealand, the US and St Helena. He has a Masters in Engineering from Nottingham University and an MBA from London Business School.
