More Graduations for Inaugural Reuben Cohort

Reuben College continued to celebrate the achievements of its inaugural cohort, when 26 graduands were conferred their degrees from the University at a ceremony held at the Sheldonian Theatre on Friday, 4 November 2022. The graduation ceremony maintains all the essential features of its ancient predecessors, with the proceedings still conducted in Latin.

Prior to the afternoon ceremony, the 25 graduands able to attend the ceremony in person and their guests were treated to a sit-down brunch in the Linacre Dining Hall, which included an address by College President Prof. Lionel Tarassenko. The graduands were then briefed on the formalities of the ceremony and accompanied to the Sheldonian Theatre by Dean of Degrees, Dr Catarina Costa Vincente.

Professor Tarassenko said to those graduating: “Some of you did very well in your Masters, gaining a Distinction. Several of you played a key role in establishing Reuben on the sports field, the cross-country course or the river; some of you were GCR Officers and helped to build the student community. All of you have been part of a pioneering cohort – the first Reuben College students, and you are therefore unique in a way that none of those students from other colleges graduating today are.  You can walk proudly and with a smile on your lips to the Sheldonian to go and have that master’s degree, for which you worked hard last academic year, conferred to you. Well done – we’re very proud of you!”

On behalf of the College and wider University, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of those who graduated in the ceremony and hope that the journey to get there brought much learning, development and pride. We wish you continued success in your future endeavours as Reubeni (alumni of Reuben!) and hope you will stay in touch and assist in the further development of Reuben College.
