Mauricio Reyna Jeldes

Biography

Mauricio Reyna Jeldes is a Pharmaceutical Chemist graduated from the Universidad de Valparaíso (2012; Valparaíso, Chile), and a Master in Bioactivity of Natural and Synthetic Products from the same University (2016). He started working on regenerative medicine, describing the involvement of TGF-β3 on wound healing, and developing biocompatible scaffolds with autologous stem cells for treating skin injuries on human patients. He also has experience describing the molecular mechanisms behind the antiproliferative effects of natural compounds, like rapeseed neutral pectin extracts and DHA, and hemisynthetic molecules, like chalcone derivates, on several types of cancer cell lines. Since 2019, he worked in the Purinergic Signalling Lab from the Universidad Católica del Norte (Coquimbo, Chile), describing the role of receptors P2X4 and P2Y2 on the proliferation, invasiveness and epithelial-mesenchymal transition of gastric cancer cell lines and primary cultures.

Currently, he's a DPhil student under the supervision of Professor Nicholas La Thangue. His prospective research project is related with the adaptation of an anti-cancer vaccine development framework to find promising therapeutic agents against pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
