I am a DPhil student in the Podium Institute for Sports Medicine and Technology - part of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering within the Engineering Science Department. My research focusses on developing novel technologies to assist in the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries in youth and elite athletes. I am particularly interested in utilising motion analysis with ultrasound to better understand lower limb joint kinematics prior to injury and to avoid the effects of soft tissue artefacts.
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2021 with a master's degree in Bioengineering. I specialised in tissue engineering, sports medicine and orthopaedic implantation surgeries. Since then I have worked in automotive engineering at Aston Martin Lagonda - working on cars such as, the DB12 and Valkyrie. Most recently, I have worked for Swim England, the country's national governing body for aquatic sports.
Outside of work and academia, I love all kinds of sport, particularly, swimming, rowing, rugby and cricket - happy to have a chat about any! During my undergraduate studies, I also worked within the Nottingham Sport welfare team to improve the experiences of disabled students during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Medal for this work. I am also interested in politics and how my research can inform future policy to improve the lives of young athletes.
